Who We Are

NextGen Healthcare is a student-led initiative at Pitt, dedicated to empowering first-generation and underserved high school students in Pittsburgh to explore and pursue careers in healthcare. We aim to bridge the gap in educational and academic resources, providing mentorship, guidance, and hands-on opportunities.

Our Mission

Our mission is to ensure that every student, regardless of their background, has access to the resources they need to confidently explore healthcare careers.

We Aim To Do This By

Providing Mentorship:
Connecting students with experienced undergraduate students who offer personalized guidance and insights.
Supporting Career Development:
Offering workshops and resources to assist with resume writing, crafting professional emails, and preparing cover letters.
Facilitating Medical Opportunities:
Helping students find internships, shadowing experiences, and volunteer opportunities to gain practical experience.
Conducting Interactive Workshops:
Engaging students with fun, medical-related workshops that develop practical skills and knowledge.
Offering a Scholarship Opportunity:
Providing a chance for participants to apply for a scholarship at the end of the program.

Program Timeline

The NextGen Healthcare program runs for a full year (October - April), with meetings held twice a month. The first meeting will take place in Oakland. Participants will receive a detailed schedule after applying.
